Wow. Last Sunday I saw Twilight (the movie) with my mom. I am a HUGE Twilight fan (or twilighter) and my mom really enjoys it. We went into the movie very excited, and came out mad, frustrated, sad, upset, disappointed, and laughing. It SUCKED! It was so cheesy! (Why we were laughing) We were frustrated because they changed practically everything!
SPOILERS! Don’t go on if you haven’ t finished the book or want to be surprised by the movie!
The beginning 10 seconds or so, has all the Cullens HUNTING! That gives away the fact they are vampires!
The entire meadow scene, is destroyed! He shows himself sparkling in the forest when he rips up the tree! They are only actually IN the meadow (which looks nothing like described in the book) for a split second of the movie. In the book, it is 2 chapters and it is extremely romantic. His shirt is off while he sparkles, and they are talking while stroking each others wrists and cheeks. They SCREWED IT UP!
They are talking about Bella’s theories in the cafeteria at school instead of the restaurant. They were talking about the possibility of Edward being a superhero IN FRONT of other students!
There are 3 people that it shows Victoria and James killing, but in the book, they don’t kill on the Cullen’s land.
Edward takes Bella to the top of a huge tree. Then they both start climbing around. Bella is extremely clumsy! She would fall if she even moved an inch that hign in a tree let alone climb around! She also only falls like 3 times in the movie and she is always falling in the book.
These are just of few of the several huge mistakes, not even mentioning the small ones like:
- Edward’s room is way to small for the bed he gets in”Eclipse”
- The couch in Edward’s room should be black not white
- Bella should be sitting in the front seat not the back with Alice and Jasper
- James should bite Bella BEFORE Edward gets there
- etc. etc, etc.
Overall, I must say: If you have not read the books, the movie is fine, just a little cheesy. If you have read the books, and you walk into the theater comparing the two, you will be GREATLY disappointed. I guess they are right, the books are better than the movies, and movies will DESTROY books always! (Especially if the writer is as good as Stephenie Meyer, and the story is as romantic and breathtaking as Twilight is.)
